I decided to start a new Blog for my Stampin' Up stuff. Since becoming a Demonstrator, I've been really busy and not keeping up with this blog as I should. So today when I went to post, I thought a change was in order. Please join me over at my new site here.

Bowling Birthday!

Chase is invited to a Bowling birthday party this weekend for his best friend, Jordan. I had a concept in mind that I wanted to play with for this card, but I didn't know how to execute it. Turns out, with the idea I had, I wasn't able to stick the middle three bowling balls onto the card! So trial and error brought me to this...

Ingredients:
'Gift' designer paper - American Traditional Designs
Stamps - midnight Media (I think)
The bowling pins were a template I created. The bowling ball has three eyelets for 'finger holes' (can't really see it in his shot)
And the red stripes are actually thick string.

This his how I executed the bowling card. The three in the middle were attached using the 'double penny' trick so that they would slide...except instead of using one larger pop dot, I used three smaller ones in a line so that the bowling pins wouldn't spin, just slide.

The word 'Party!' is attached to the bottom of the middle pin, so that (as you can see in the top two pics) when the pins slide up, the word comes out from behind the bowling ball.

Happy...ahem...anniversary! ?

Well, Darren and I will be celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary this year! But of course, thats not until November 18th. So I'm sure you're wondering what I'm talking about. September 15th is the anniversary that we always celebrated before we got married, as the start of our relationship. Neither of us is sure what exactly marked that day...if it was the first "I love you's" or just when we decided to go from 'dating' to 'boyfriend/girlfriend'. lol. I was 16, he was 20 (almost 21), and that was nine years ago. I thought my mom was gonna die when she found out how old he was. I remember it clearly. We were in the basement and she was vacuuming, and she asked me (it was the day before his 21st birthday) how old he was. I replied quite hesitently.."oh, he's 20."

....wait for it....wait for it....

"oh". She replied.

ummm...come again? ok, act casually.....be cool.....

And that was it! That was all that was said about it. I guess he won her over like he won me over. :)

And now it's 9 years later...he's turning 30 in less than a month, and I'm still in my early 20's. Ok....mid 20's. We've got two beautiful children, and I am the happiest I've ever been. So this is the card I made for him. We didn't celebrate it as such...but nevertheless, I had to mark the occasion with a card. After all, 9 years is nothing to sneeze at. And at 16...well, I never would have thought I'd be getting into my lifelong relationship...but when you find the right man, I guess age truely isn't a factor.

Here's what I wrote on the inside of Darren's card.

When we're old and gray,
Nine years won't seem like very long.
When we were young and naive,
Nine years felt like forever.
Now that we're the parents of two
Beautiful Children
And nine years have come and went
Some days it might feel like a lifetime....
Others it may not seem like long at all...
But it has been nine years
Filled with Love, Friendship, Companionship,
Hardships and a lot of Fun.
And I look forward to every other nine years
For the Rest of our Lives.

My son's godparents (well, two of them), live in Alberta now,and have since he was 3 months old. Of course we miss them like crazy, and I wanted to send them something special. Maybe this makes me a horrible person, but I haven't sent them anything since they moved away! Terrible, I know. I've made Christmas cards, birthday cards, taken pics, made CD's, and never sent them anything. I know...terrible. But, it never fails, every one of my son's birthdays and every Christmas we get a card from them with money and a note in it for my son. So when my daughter was born, they sent a card with a gift for each in them. And she's quite generous, considering they're living up there, working their asses off so that they can save money to have a good start when they move home (which is hopefully going to be soon!)

So here's the card I'm GOING TO SEND THEM, DAMNIT! lol I'm also going to burn, like, a thousand pics onto a DVD for them so that they can see everything they've missed since they left. Including our wedding pics, which they were home for, but I have not sent them the pics. (ok, give me a break on that one, they did see the web album, and after all, I don't even have any wedding pics blown up yet for my own house!)

I love this card. It's so fun and playfull. These are the felt flowers I was talking about in my last post (I did it! I made a card with the ingredient I had picked out!) (whoo hoo). Aren't they cute, though? For less than 3 bucks you get 4 round orange ones, 5 big pink flowers, 3 small orange flowers, 3 small pink flowers and four leaves (or some assortion of this...those are what I got). (is assortion even a word? Unsure, but I'm tired, so it is now)

The inside pink circle is made with velvet paper by Doodlebug Design Inc. The black and white polka dots are Scenic Route *I think* (I have this paper already half cut and only part of the name is there.) the stamp is...you guessed it...borrowed from mom, although I believe it might be a part of an Inkadinkadoo set I gave her for Christmas a few years back. The little green gems on the butterflies wings are Kurio. It was a fun card to make. I just wish I had the large round circle nestabilites..then I wouldn't have to do a mediocure job cutting out scalloped circles with my scallop scissors... Think they might be on my Christmas list. *hint hint*. hehe.

Any whooooo....thinking this weekend I may try and get some scrapbooking done, instead of just card making. Although I have to make a birthday card for Chase's best friend's birthday. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a race track birthday card...so stay posted for more posts this weekend (hopefully, if Shaelin co-operates!)

My sister in law, Lori, asked me to create a wedding card that she could send to her friends in Toronto who recently got married. The bride wore a red wedding dress, so this is what I created. The stamp, I believe is inkadinkadoo. I love the little pearl accents from Kurio, on the cake, as well as the larger pearl accent on the flower which has been kicking around my craft room for ages now! lol

I haven't done much lately, although I have a bunch of cards I have to do. I had a tooth removed two days ago (root canal gone bad...ugh) and so I've been hitting the hay pretty early both nights since. Soup diets don't exactly leave you reeling with energy! But I'm feeling better now, and hoping to get to it tonight with some new supplies I bought yesterday. I found these super cute felt flowers at Walmart in the sewing section, they're called "Ka-Jinkers". I'm going to try and make a card with them tonight, but as you probably know about me, I start a card with one ingredient in mind, and end up with something way off base from where I began! lol

On another note, I'm considering becoming a demonstrator for Stampin' Up! I haven't fully decided yet, but this would be a great time to start it, being at home with my kids this year on Mat leave. So we'll see, but my mom is super excited about the idea of it! I have to say, it sounds pretty exciting! I'm just wonder where to find clientelle, and hoping I'm not too shy to do it. But then again, if I can teach debrief classes at work and take control in that environment, then I should be able to do the same in a fun environment doing something I love, right? Stay tuned, you'll all know when I decide. :)

Boy, it's so early to be looking at witches and pumpkins, I'm still in September-shock mode. But, nevertheless, I was at Michael's a few days ago, and they had some sweet little spooky stamps in their buck fifty bin. I bought 6...which is odd for me, since I usually try and steer away from seasonal stamps a little. But I bought two witches, the pumpkin, large spiderweb, bat, and some candycorns. The smaller stamps were ones I borrowed from mom without knowing that I'd be getting some of my own. but together, they're spook-tacular! lol...oh dear.

Let me tell you what I did, because although I think it looks impressive, it's much more impressive in person. The pumpkin was stamped on water colour paper and then coloured with watercolour leads. The part I love bext is the stemy thingies. There are usually little curly vines, but I ran some green wire through my crimper machine, and then shaped it into curls. The big bat is embossed with black powder, and I bent the wings for a 3D affect. The flying witch is embossed in metallic black powder and the moon is inked around the edge in orange. The little standing witch is paper peiced for a 3D affect as well, making the nose and broom pop up. The spiderweb on the top left was a Michael's stamp, but I used a bigger spider stamp to cover the little one that was part of that stamp. I really enjoyed making these cards, one for my son and daughter, and one for my niece. Love the black paper with white polka dots, I think it adds a playfull affect to the card. :)

I'll probably be making more soon, so I'll post as I go. Hoping to add some scrapbook pages to my book, but I really need to get a new scrapbook first before I start scrapping Shaelin's pics. I was going to start some tonight, but I got chatting to my best friend, who's in Alberta, and we started reminising and laughing, and well....lets just say that when she called I was part way through this post, and it's taken me three hours to finish it!! lol Good times. I just quicky wanted to share with you the sweet little poem I put inside Paytn's card. I had a card given to me with a similar rhyme when Shaelin was born, but I altered the poem a lot, and here's the result.

A little girls birthday
is full of delights
with ice cream and candles,
and gifts to excite.
It's a day full of kisses
and singing pure joys
It's a house full of friends
and a room full of toys.
Though it's hard to believe
that you're already one
The love and the joy

My friends little girl, Paytn, is 1 year old two weeks ago! haha and of course, (shock) I forgot. So we're going to see them again this weekend, so I made an extra special card. Extra special because it was SUPER fun to make! This design completely came from my own head, which makes me even more proud of it. Where to begin. The center of the flower was embossed with the swirl Cuttlebug folder. The petals are my own template, sanded around the edges. The four stamps are from moms collection, once again. (Love those stamps!) The bumblebee and the dragonfly both have papaer pieced wings that are made with velum to give them a see-through wing-like affect. The dragonfly's wings are layered twice and attached with a lilac brad. The butterfly's wings are also paper pieced, but it's wings are on handmade paper with sparkly swirls. The lettering is rub-ons, and I dotted the swirls to make it look like their flying. Oh, and the ladybug's back is also paper pieced. I love this card. Hope Paytn loves it too! It was so much fun! My great aunt Fran sent my son and daughter a sweet care package to welcome Shaelin! So to thank her I made up this card. The purple paper I used didn't quite match any of my inks, so I used boysenberry and brown and stamped them both together with a little shading technique on the stamp to get the flowers that you see. I then took the beige paper and ran it through my Cuttlebug in the swirl embossing folder. LOVE this look...I'm not sure why I never thought to stamp first and then emboss. The two stamps are from moms collection, of course! The dragonfly is then paper pieced to be 3D with a brass brad in the middle. Thanks for visiting!

So I wanted a jewellry box type thing for my daughter, although she's too young for jewellry yet (she's even too young for the few buckles that she has!) But I had this box that my MIL gave me for my birthday last year, and it has these spots for pics in the top, and the top slides off the box so you can put whatever you want in there. Well, I got to thinking that it would be super cute to put in her bedroom. So I made this! The lettering is froma Cuttlebug alphabet set that mom has, she was trying out the dies and sent me one of each letter! I had used the little 'e' on a card not too long ago, so I used the capital
'E' here, but I think because of the lettering, it fits well and looks cute. I'm actually glad I didn't have the small 'e'. The dragonfly is a brad, as is the center of the flower that dots the 'i'. The sunflower I got at Dollarama, and it's on a piece of wire. I poked it through the paper like a brad. I think you could even remove the center and use a brad there instead, but the center is cute, as it's covered in microbeads. The stamp of the ladybug is borrowed from moms collection. And the paper is Kurio. I think it's pretty cute.
I'm working on a Thank You card for my great aunt, but I have a bundle of fuss in my arms that is my sick little girl, so that might have to wait until we get home tomorrow or the next day. No worries about Shaelin though. She is, no doubt, fussy, but it's just a little touch of a cold that's got her (and me) down. Not too bad to keep us from the cabin though. After all, this is the weekend when the men get to pull out their guns and test them out....and show off their manliness. Should be good times at the cabin.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my in-law's anniversary, so I managed to put together this card during multiple nap times! I bought a new stamp at Michael's last weekend, and had planned to use it (it's a puzzle), but I couldn't make it work with this card, so I thought I'll try it on another card.
This card is relatively simple...it's some beautiful Kruio paper, scalloped at the edge. Underneath is white CS embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Love these ribbons, I think they really tie it all together (hehe...tie it together) (ok, I'm over tired today! haha). The stamp is...guess....Studio G of course, and I added the brads in the corner that matched perfectly. Even tho it's simple, it took me a long time to make it. I was trying a LOAD of different things, and ended up with this. Not to mention that my 3 week old is not overly agreeable to my crafting hobby...lol.
Now to find a sentimate for the inside. I was thinking of this one:
"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."
or this one "Happy marriages begin when we marry the one we love, and they blossom when we love the one we married."
If I can get Shaelin out of my arms long enough to write one out, now, we'll be all set!!

Birthday Boy!

Darren's cousin is home from Alberta with his fiance and his little boy. Since they're home for a few weeks, they decided to have their sons birthday here at McDonald's, this thursday. So of course, today I had to force myself to put together a card...(hehe...force myself...no doubt!).
Here's what I came up with...I think it's adorable! I saw a card sort of similar to this a few weeks back on a blog that I visit, but I subscribe to a load of blogs, so I have no idea which one it was! I don't remember exactly what the card looked like, either, just that it was a beachy scene.
For mine, I made the sand from cork board that I had, and layered it twice. The edges were shaded with watercolour lead. The water was just blue paper, and I used liquid emboss to make waves and added blue and silver microbeads and sparkle embossing powder. The grass is just scrap paper cut with scissors, and the 'bath mat' is a piece of woven hemp I had lying around. The monkey is a Cuttlebug die, but I replaced the branch in his hand with this cute shovel. The shovel, bucket, 'sun in the sun', starfish and shell all came from a stamp set that I bought 2 years ago, and I don't know the name of the set. The sun is Studio G. Oh, and I cut out a piece of purple striped paper and made trunks for the monkey...hehe too cute. What could me more fun than making a card for a child? For an idea for a little boys card, see one of my previous posts for Chase's birthday. He loved his card. When he opened it, everyone was talking about how I made it, and one woman at the party says "wow, thats crazy". Chase looked at the card, and said "yeah...that IS Crazy"...lol so cute! He's only 3! Here is a sympathy card that I made for my step dad's mother, when her sister passed away. The cardstock is all Kurio, stamp is Studio G. I added a little detail with the paper piercing and the little pearls inside the flowers, which I believe are Martha Stewart.

This is a Thank you Card that I made for my mom, since she helped out so much by coming to live with us for like, 2 weeks! lol I'm really tired, so I'll quickly give you the ingredients for this card!
Cardstock is Kurio. Stamps are Studio G, except for the middle of the flower, which is Gel-a-Tins. The outside of the flower is a sticker from Martha Stewart.

A thank you card for my in-laws who have helped so much lately, especially throughout the last month or so of my pregnancy, by helping to get the nursery and the basement apt ready for this month.

The card is actually NOT as pink as it appears here, and is instead more of an orange tint. The stamp of the swirls came from mom (she told me the company, but I forget), and it's actually double stamped here, once in orange and once in red. The paper that it's stamped on is a distressed yellow, (shocked that the colours are so off in the pic). Then I added a few small pearls from Kurio to accent the swirls. The paper with the flowers is Kurio. The scalloped circles are dotted with a white gel pen, and then stamped with two stamps, both Studio G, the flower on the cake and then the 'thank you'.

I have to say, it's more impressive in person, but you get the idea.

I created this card this morning, because I have a sweet little boy who's turning 3 in a couple of weeks. Of course, with the new baby coming in the next 6 days (at the most) I'll have very little time afterwards to spend this kind of time on a card. I wanted my son to see how special he is to us, by making him an extra special card. I love how this turned out. I think it really captures what Chase is all about. It's sweet and carefree, and fun and it has his favorite things in it. I can't wait to see his reaction!! Let me explain what I did here. The truck and the tractor are stamps that I bought a few years ago at a dollar store, and never ever used them, because they aren't really nice stamps, they leave spots unstamped I find. Well, I forced them to work!! The tractor I wanted to make a little bigger, so I stamped it, scanned it into my computer, fixed it up a little around the edges and printed off four of them, so that I could paper piece it. The Truck was fine at the normal size, so I used my juiciest pigment, and stamped it 6 times, and embossed them in black powder. This was to avoid the ink smearing when I added the watercolour. It's hard to see here, but I used watercolour leads on both vehicles to add a bit of dimension, and I think the brassy mini brads really added to them too. So cute! So I wanted to make a big sand-pit area, and I found, in my drawer of scraps, a piece of corkboard, also purchased a few years ago at a Dollar Store and never used! What luck! I cut them into hills, and then took my brown watercolour lead to give them dimension as well. I layered this into three layers, which is wat makes the card SO thick! The sky was just some blue textured paper, aquired from mom, (something here had to be aquired from mom, eh!? lol) and I inked the edges with a blue inkpad that's usually quite useless, except for doing paper edging. The cloud is a little piece of batting, attached with glue lines. The Happy Birthday was a stamp from the Dollar Store (not sure the company) and added on with two brassy brads. The papers are all randoms that I had left-overs of, so this card was a mish mash of things that I have not used, or forgotten about. I could NOT be happier with the result, and I think my precious little man, who's growing up WAY too fast, will agree. :)

Tonight I decided to play around again, and this is what I made. It's not my original idea, and I actually like the original better, which was made by Nancy Morgan, and can be seen at papersmiles.blogspot.com. I don't know how she did the petals, but mine were a cut out that I made and used as a stencil. The inside of the flower is some paper piecing done with my new Inkadinkado stamp, and then a brown brad in the middle. The paper inside the flower is Kurio. I used white cardstock for the outside, but I felt I needed something to make the flower petals pop, so I used brown watercolour lead around the outside of the edges, and then I kind of scribbled around the white, to create a marbled affect when the water was added. The Ribbon on the bottom came from Michael's...it's so cute, it's brown with pink stitching on one side, and the opposite on the other side. I think I'm going to leave this stamp, and add a sentiment when needed.
Now I'm heading to bed to nurse my sunburnt legs!!! Happy scrapping, and good night! :)

What a great evening!! Tonight we had a nice little Canada Day BBQ at our house, and after we were in the backyard playing Bocce ball and letting the kids tire themselves out! So after everyone left, my DH and I sat on the front porch and watched random neighbours fireworks and reminisced about old times. It was really nice. Once we were done all that, I decided to make a few cards, since I'll be out of commision for a while after Thursday the 10th (baby's arrival date, via c-section)...so I thought a few cards stored for just-incase times would be a good idea. I tried out a few new things tonight. For one thing, I made all three of the cards in 6x3 size, which I had never tried before. This one above is my favorite, the other two were mostly just me playing around. I really like what happened on this one, though. The circles were new stamps that mom bought on her visit in here last weekend, and they are Gel-a-Tins. (she took half and loaned me half of them, they are too cute). I stamped them, forgot to emboss them, (but thats ok, it still looks good) and then I coloured some of them in with a white crayon. By sponging ink from the ink pad onto a new kitchen sponge, I could apply the colour more evenly and softer, and it made this very cool affect, which we learned this past weekend. We saw this done on another card, but I'm not sure who did it. The one I saw was made with flowers, but I like the circle affect too. The Happy and Birthday stamps are Studio G. I think it turned out kinda cool. Hope you enjoy!

This card was made, mostly because I was playing around with my new inks, and moms new stamps! lol The circle stamps are all Gel-a-Tin's stamps, and they are inked in VersaColor inks boysenberry, lime, and merigold, and the dark orange is Orange Color Box. The Sealed with a Kiss stamp is Studio G. The colour on the background of the circles was done by sponging onto the page...it softens the look of the colour, rather than applying directly from the ink pad.

My Grandparents celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, which really gave me a perfect opportunity to try out some of my new things! This shaker card was made with gold microbeads. The hearts are a Cuttlebug die cut, and I just love them! I walked past them in the store so many times, and finally got them when mom called to tell me she was buying some, and they were on sale, so of course, I got some too! lol You can see the stamp in the background of the shaker card...this is also a new stamp. I bought this at Michael's, and it's an Inkadinkado stamp. It was stamped, embossed in black, and then sponged with green, orange, pink and purple inks blended together. I love it, because it looks nice alone, but there are SO many ways to alter this stamp. It can become a circle design, a flower design, a smaller flower design, a petal, a leaf. It reminds me of Michael Strong's cloisonne stamps which are extremely versatille. I'll be using this stamp again in the future for paper piecing, already tried it and it looks great, I just need to play around with it some more. The Celebrate stamp is a Studio G stamp. The edges of the card are distressed with sandpaper, and then inked with boysenberry versa colour ink. The frame of the shaker is stamped with the same stamp as inside, and then embossed with gold powder. Not too bad, since I was just playing around at first!

Love Love Love this page!! The paper is so beautiful!! It's Rusty Pickle paper, and it's called Pop Star. The flowers were all just b&w, so I coloured some, and I embossed others, so some are shiny. The pic of my DS throwing rocks at the Harbour view park. It's matted on a really nice orangish paper, distressed with yellow, and the flower stamps are ones from Michael's dollar bin! I adore this page and the one below...they are very sharp looking in the scrapbook. :)

So...to go along with the beautiful page above, I created my own page. This was plain white cardstock. I added the dotted line around the adge, and stamped/drew/coloured the flowers in the corner. Then I put some journaling about being pregnant on the side. The pics are matted with a black paper that gives a stitched leather look, and a purple paper with was stamped with a flower that corosponds with the flower on the other page.

Love this card, certainly one of my favorites that I've done. The background is black, which is why it's hard to pick out. The three flowers used on this card were stamped in black, (all three borrowed from my moms stamp collection). I cut them out to overlap the circle paper. The scalloped inside circle was embossed with a scallop stamp in a sparkle powder, and inside that is "thank you" stamped in purple.

This was a variation on the card above, except the flowers are seperating the dark and lighter purple, and the ripped edge is along the circle paper. I like the other version better. You can see the flowers better, I think.

A little more of a formal card, with the black and cream and orange, but I really like it as maybe a sympathy or get well card. The swirls were a stamp borrowed from my mom (unsure of the company) and some of the dots were punched out and accented with bronze eyelets. The black stripe is a leather looking paper, (love it, very rich looking) and the scalloped circles were accented with orange chaulk for a soft edge. The thinking of you stamp is Studio G. The ribbon then ties it all together with the orange.

This is my shaker card. Can't make a batch of cards to give away without a shaker card. This one was stamped with a beautiful stamp that I got from mom again (sorry, not sure what company, but it's an acrylic), it was stamped in pink first, then white in Judikins style to accent the card. Inside the shaker was a cut-out flower and some pink, silver and gold microbeads.

Love this card! It's definetly one of my favorites from this batch of cards, mostly because I was just playing around with some stamps that mom loaned me! The three flower stamps on the bottom, as well as the stamp inside the scalloped circle are all loaners! I love them though! So easy to make this card, but so pretty! (thanks mom!)

These two cards are very similar except for the colour differences. The stamp is two flowers (not sure the company it came from) but I stamped in and cut it into three blocks and mounted them on patten leather looking paper. The 'happy birthday' background is a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and I inked the inside of the folder to make the white paper have a bit of shading that matched each card. The tag was cut in my Cuttlebug and embossed with black powder.

This card was fun to make. The cake stamp is from the Michael's cheap bin, and the Celebrate stamp is from Studio G. The iridecent paper was punched around the edges. The white background paper was stamped with two different stamps that I borrowed from my mom. One is a flower (in pink) with writing inside the petals, and the other is just a dotted circle with a sort of a middle to it. The flower on the front was bought at Dollarama on the string, and it was called 'flower garland' - really cute. There are pink, green and orange flowers, and they are in two sizes, this one and a smaller one.

A Father's Day card for my husband from me and my son. Like the card below, the fish image here was printed from the computer. The green polka dotted paper was distressed using crinkling, inking and sandpapering. The lettering is done with Rub-ons. The hook and spinner are a real hook and spinner! lol I "borrowed" them from my husbands fishing kit (I did give them back, afterall!) The hook is stuck into a very thick foam pop dot to ensure safety. I love what it adds to the card, and he really enjoyed it!

This was a Father's Day card for my step-dad, who my son calls Grampa. The fish image was printed from the computer, and the rest was inked and sandpapered. The tag was cut from my Cuttlebug, and the letters are rub-ons. Really like this card, and the distressed look of the brown paper. It was crinkled, inked with dark brown and then sandpapered.

This is a card I made for my little brothers 10th birthday. I got the idea from a card design saved on my computer (the whole, "Dude, that is so cool", came from that card) but I'm not sure who the maker was. The Letters in Dude are rub-ons. Sandpaper was my friend for this card. :)

This card is for my Grandfather, and it's actually cased from a couple of different cards. I used a combination of a card seen in the tvweekly.com archives by Bethany, and also a card I saw made by Cindy Lyles’ (aka Starlit Studio), which was actually cased from a Papyrus brand card!! lol Neither card was exactly like this one, the former was not a clothesline affect, and the latter was not either, this was actually on a hanger. In any case, I will give credit where credit is due!

Gosh, Father's Day cards are the hardest to make! I find it quite difficult to make a masculine card. This one worked out pretty good after about 2 hrs!! lol I am in a 'sanding' phase now...all the edges are getting sanded to give an old, weathered look. The hockey stamp is from Michaels ($1.50 bin), and the crossed hockey sticks, not sure where they're from, as I borrowed this stamp from my moms never ending collection of stamps! lol The circle was cut from a Cuttlebug die, which cuts the circles (love this die) and the lettering is made of rub-on letters. The ribbon was stapled on, (another look that I'm only now starting to play with!). I think it came together pretty well.

This one features a stamp-like piece that came from a Cuttlebug alphabet set as well as the circle seen in the post below (been a while since I blogged, and I did it all in the wrong order! lol) Anyways, Love this, think it gives it a different look, a very artsy spin on the flower-pot-card look.

It's been a while since I blogged anything, so I'll show you why. I was in a bit of a dry spell craft-wise, because those books wore me out a little bit! lol So anyways, now I have two baby showers coming up that I had to have Thank you Cards for. So here's what I put together. They are bright coloured, because I had an abundance of bright colours that I needed to use! lol Most of the material used was from scraps, actually. Each card is stamped with a flower pattern in versa mark, stamps by Studio G (of course). The pots were my own design, and stamped with a Thank You! Stamp that my DH bought me at Walmart. The stems of the flowers were drawn on to the card with a black felt pen and made to look messy. Each flower was made by hand....all are different, most of it was made with the Cuttlebug and then designed on different papers and attached different ways...I'm going to add some more pics so you can get a better idea of what I mean. I think they turned out pretty well, although they were a little time consuming, I would do a LOAD of flowers, and then make 5-10 cards at a time.

This is the cover of the mini-album I made for my mom. It was cased from Tricia's idea on www.tvweekly.com from the week before Mother's day. The album is entirely home made from a shoebox! All the paper used, save from the binding, was purchased in one paper pad, but unfortunately I don't know who created the set. If I can find out, i'll be sure to post it. The album is based entirely on my moms last trip in before Mother's Day, where we took the kids to the Butterfly exhibit. The pics turned out so beautiful, they deserved more than just a two page spread!! On the front you see embellishments (like the swirl things) that came fromt he booklet of paper, as well as the purple tag. I stamped the tag with a butterfly stamp and embossed in sparkle powder. The Making Memories was a set of individual letters purchased at Dollarama, and the swirl I've had forever. The binding paper and silver textured papers were purchased at Dollarama as well. Page one. It's the first letter, G, so theres not much room here to add anything. So I used a rubber stamp of a butterfly (borrowed from mom...lol) and stamped and embossed in white. Then I did it again on a scrap sheet, cut out the butterfly and overlayed it on the other, so I could lift the wings, and you'll still see the other butterfly beneath. love this affect. Then I took a smaller butterfly stamp and stamped around the G and embossed in clear sparkle powder. The brads holding this together are two prong brads that I purchased on ebay. Love them.

Page two. My sister sitting in the butterfly exhibit with a butterfly on her arm. Across the top says "Mother....Grandmother..." and on the bottom, stamped and embossed in white powder says "Friend". My mom has been a great friend to us, and I wanted to really drive that home. She's a scrapbooking friend, and a sounding board when we're having trouble. Since I became a mom she's been a great help, respectfully helping me when I ask without ever stepping over her boundaries. She's great. The green flower is a plastic one from a set I bought last year that comes in all different colours.

My favorite of the pages. This is the fourth page. My mom and my DS one morning. The butterfly was cut from the page itself to overlay the pic, and is stamped with a butterfly stamp and embossed with sparkle powder. The G and M are cut with my baby alphabet set in my Cuttlebug. The ampersand I purchased at a local scrap shop, The Paperie. The page simply says "Gramma and Me". I love it.

Second last page. My sister, brother and DS Chase again, and the behind pic was Aiden, my brother and my son again. The little blue swirl came in a paper pack I purchased along with all the paper from the album. Not sure what the paper package was called, I misplaced the cover, because the entire paper pack fell apart when I removed the back to use for thick letters!! I think the sticker says it all here, since they live 4 hours from us. "Laughter connects the Distance between me and you" held in place with two brass dragonfly brads.

The final page. This is my mom, my DS Chase and me at the butterfly exhibit. I cut the corner butterfly out of the paper background, and stamped around it with Stupid G stamps and embossed in white powder. The purple butterly has little flowers stamped on it and embossed with Kaelidescope powder. The purple ribbon and purple string was added to finish it off, and stamped below the pic in black was the I Love You. Studio G stamp.

Ok, if you look down a couple of posts, you'll see the cover for this mini-album that I made for my nan. It was approx 12 pages, front and back, and took me two days (not sure why it's called a 12 minute album! ha!) Anyways...here was page 1. This was a family picture taken about 3 years ago (as I was preggo with my DS at the time, thats me on the left with the belly! And my husband in the red sweater.) Anyways, where do I start with this page...I wanted a background that basically said Family. So...I got on my computer and wrote out anything I could think of in relations...ie, cousins, aunt, grandfather, sister, etc. In no particular order (so I made sure aunt and uncle were not together, type thing). then I used a different font for each title and printed it onto the paper. Well...my printer has a nasty little habit of taking the paper in on an angle...but I felt like Tricia for this one...lol instead of starting a new page, I used it with the words printed on the angle, and I think it turned out beautifully. I prefer this to the straight-on affect I was going for. So I inked the endges in matching brown ink, and added pink paper, and brown and pink flowers to accent the pic. The flowers came from a store in my moms town called the Crop Shop, and they were sold in little bags, so I'm not sure what the name of them is, but they are little thicker-than-tissue-paper flowers. So cute. The brads are puffy material with brown and pink stripes, and they were bought at Dollarama (my new fav store). I think it came together nicely, especially since theres a lot of pink and brown in the pic. I love looking at pics like this...although only 3 years ago, our clan has increased by 3, and soon four. My sister, brother and cousins are so grown now, she's taller than me now, and three years ago, she was the little girl in pink standing next to me!

This page was part of a two page layout along with the one below. I think it has a retro feeling to it, which I like, since the pics are from the 70's. The background was stamped in brown ink using three different flower stamps from Studio G. (I was going for a retro wallpaper affect). The photo corners were also stamped with the same stamps. The scalloped oval was made with my nestabilities.

This was page 3. I only took pics of the first three pages, because my camera was on the missing list of course. So I'll have to get more pics when I visit her again. Let me tell you what I did here...and mom's gonna kill me for posting this pic! hehe The middle is mom, the left is my nan and Uncle and the right is my Aunt and pop. The page was stamped randomly with a Studio G heart stamp. The middle strip of paper I've had for ages, and LOVE it...(I believe I've posted things with it before, actually), and it has a silver frame with I Love You. stamped on the inside in brown ink using a Studio G stamp. The black and white flowers are velvet self-stick flowers, love them, got them from mom. I think the page has a retro feeling, thats what I was going for anyways!

It's been a while since I blogged anything, but there is a good reason behind that! I have been busy making Mother's Day gifts (My MIL Loved her album, btw). But because my mom and grandmother live a few hours away, I didn't have such a deadline to get theirs finished. My moms gift is complete now, but I'm not going to blog it until tomorrow, incase she checks my blog. But I'll give you this...my nan has been a very important person in my life, so I wanted to do something special for her since the last couple of years have been difficult. I decided to put together a mini-album for her, using the 12 minute scrapbook as inspiration. I have pics that came from old slides they had, and I'll be using some of them, and then some new pics that I have gathered from our entire family. I have about 40 pics. I started it last night. She's coming to town tomorrow. I'm on a deadline. lol. But I work well under pressure...(good thing!) So I wanted to show you the cover. I L.O.V.E this paper!! Darren gave me a new paper pad 12x12's for Mother's Day, and this was one of the sheets in it. The pad is called The Breathe Paper Collection...bought at Michael's, and I completely recommend it to anyone, as it is beautiful!! So here's the cover, the letters were done with one of my alphabet sets for Cuttlebug, and using one of the pink papers in the new pad I have. Loves! Hope you enjoy! Check back tomorrow, I expect there will be a lot more to see!

Here is the finished Project for the Circle of Life project that Tricia made on www.tvweekly.com a few weeks ago. It's a Mother's day gift for my MIL, and features mostly pics of her and my son, although there are also other people in here as well. I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out, it took me a while, the inside was harder than I expected it would be. I think it came together well, though! Page one. For the sake of showing the pictures better, I've placed white paper between each layer so you can see them seperately. This is the top layer, and the only one with three circles. The first circle to the left is a pic of my unborn baby girl, Shaelin. The outlining paper matches the binding of the book, and the flower is a velvet 3D flower that sticks on, and was given to me from my mom. The middle circle has my handwritten lettering (My Nan) which was written in liquid emboss and then sprinkled with gold microbeads. The right circle is just three punched hearts and a wooden cut out heart which I bought in a set last night at Dollarama. I inked the heart gold.

Page two. Love these two the best I think. The left side is DS Chase, DH Darren, MIL Marjorie, and Uncle Eddie (Rest in Peace). This is four generations, and Uncle Eddie was the oldest living relative that they had on Marjorie's side of the family. The plaid paper I've had for a while, don't know the name off hand, but it's really beautiful. The corner is just brown torn paper and the word 'family' is a set of rub-on alphabets I have. The pic is held in place with two bronze drageonfly brads. On the right side is a pic of my neice Marlo and my DS Chase. Love the pic. The embellishment is a little die cut flower, purchased at the Paperie here in town. It's held in place with red craft wire.

This is the third page. The paper is brown, beige and tan diamonds. The left side is a pic of FIL and DS Chase at the beach a few summers ago. It is scalloped around the edges. The ribbon is held in place by a shiny silver brad. The left side I stamped Making Memories with a little alphabet stamp set that I purchased at Dollarama I think, and then a corner stamp that I've had forever. I was going to emboss it originally, but I think it looks better like this, and I LOVE the striped paper that it's on...it's by All My Memories, and the name is Happiness Stripe. I have a dotted co-ordinating paper as well, and I just Love to use them together.

The second last set of circles. These are done on a handmade paper that is stitched in gold thread. Wasn't sure I'd ever find a use for it, but it fits pretty good here. The left is MIL and DS Chase, and the heart is from a set of wooden cut outs that I bought at Dollarama last night. The outside is inked in black (wish now I had used brown instead) and the inside is brown paper lightly dusted with pink embossing powder, so you can sort of see the brown (which is why I wish I had used brown ink instead). The right side is a pic of MIL and DS Chase again (surprise!) when she came back from a visit to New Zealand. The embellishment is a little silver frame thingy, and instead I Love You is stamped from a Stupid G stamp and embossed in gold powder.

This is the last page, the circle on the left has a pic of MIL, FIL and my DS Chase at Christmas time. It's wrapped in two braided ropes, and the knot is unbraided. The colours are off-white, brown and goldish. The pic to the right was taken at the cabin last weekend when Chase and Marjorie were picking through Marjorie's mothers old jewellery. The embellishment is a little brown frame, and inside I used a Studio G stamp thats a heart and xoxo and embossed it in a metallic bronze. Love it!

Mother's Day is Coming....

I've decided to make an album book for my sons grandmother (my husbands mother) for mothers day. The idea came from Tricia on www.tvweekly.com, and of course it's the scrapbook lounge channel. Tricia is amazing and comes up with some awesome ideas, so thanks for this one!! The papers are a mixture of golds, bronzes and browns, and I think they came together nicely. The gold piece that you see on the front here is not as much gold as it looks on this pic, it's more like a brown colour, but it has roses all over it. The stamps here (see last pic below) are roses that have been embossed in metallic bronze powder. The chipboard letters were bought, and I inked them with a brown pad, and then did the edges with gold ink to accent. I'm pretty impressed with it so far...hoping it turns out nice when I get the pics added inside! I'll keep posting as it comes along!

This is the inside page. Since I didn't have oval templates big enough for the one that Tricia made, I decided to use her circle idea. I like the ovals better, they were neater looking, but this gives a pretty cool effect too. No pics have been added as of yet, because I ran out of glue!! lol I also have to find some old pics to add to it as well. I stuck with browns, golds, and added some orange in there as well. Hoping it all comes together in the end!

This shows the front and back cover of the album I'm currently making. The back cover is looking very gold here, but it's not really that gold, it's more brown. You probably can't tell, but there are roses in the back cover page, so when I realized that mom had loaned me a rose stamp I was thrilled! They match very well, so I stamped two roses on the front cover and embossed in brass metallic powder, and also did one on the inside of the front cover. The binding paper is textured with lines, and it really gives it a rich look. I was just impressed that the thing is staying together!!

Remember a few posts ago, I posted a baby shower card? Well...in usual Amie style, I came up with a new idea and decided to save the other card for another occasion. (This is why I NEVER sign the inside of my cards until I'm headed out the door to give them out!) I recently bought a Cuttlebug die set with these four animals, and finally got good use from the little cuties. Each was done in at least two steps...let me tell you what I did. The monkey was made from a dark beige shade, and then shadowed with my brown inkpad. The face was cut from a lighter beige paper and also shaded before being added to the front. The eyes were a different paper behind, as they are cut out. The lion was the most work. The whole thing was done in the same paper as the monkey's body, but I then used an orangish shade flocking powder to make it fuzzy. The body, face, and ears are fuzzy textured. The mane was cut from a patterned brown paper and shaded around the edges. The giraffe is shaded with the brown too, and it's tail, ears and back hair are all made fuzzy textured with yellow flocking powder. The elephant was the easiest, made simply from silver shiny paper, and the eyes and ears are pink because of the paper I added behind the cut out parts. The water waves were made with kaleidoscope embossing powder, so it shines like water when you move it. The clouds are white embossing powder, and the edges are done with a purple ink pad. The card I think turned out real cute. To take the religious look off of it a little (as it wasn't intended to be religious, really), inside the inscription reads "Hoping your new baby brings you Boatloads of Love". I enjoyed making this card, as the idea was developing in my head for a few weeks, and it finally came to life. Hope you enjoy!

It's been a while, so I thought I'd post my latest two cards. I can finally post the card I made my mom for her birthday, since she recieved it today. It's made basically from my Cuttlebug. The swirls are Shapeabilities (cut and embossed in a two-step Cuttlebug process). They are SO CUTE! I love them! They actually came from mom...lol...she gave them to me for my birthday! The Lettering is made from a Cuttlebug alphabet set, although I forget the actual name on the set...I love it, the letters are beautiful. They were cut from a two-shade green striped paper. The flower was also cut from a Cuttlebug die, and I believe it came in the same set as the alphabet. I then used my dark orange ink pad to shade the edges. The ribbon ties it all in then, with the corresponding colours...the 'white' dots, are actually pale green.

This is a card that I created for one of our previous supervisors at work. She is going on a Cruise for her wedding soon, and jealous as I am, I could not resist making her this card. Remember previously I made a wedding card for my Uncle and his new wife? Changed my mind on that one, actually, and made one for them that was very similar to this one. Of course I forgot to take a pic of that one, but they were really close.

Anyways, This card was created using microbeads and liquid embossing powder for the entire bodice of the dress. The eyelets were places, and the ribbon stiched through, and a piece of handmade paper is on the inside. The Sticker across the bottom says "Eternal Love". Around the edge of the beige is liquid embossing power dried into dots. The quote on the inside says "Love is friendship caught on fire... May you always feel the Heat". I love it, I read the beginning of it somewhere, and I then added the feeling the heat part, and I think it fits nicely. This was a time-consuming card, but I think it turned out nicely.

As promised, I decided to add some of my scrapbook pages. So why not start with the newest? I usually do a two -page spread, but today I opted for one. I put it in the plastic before I realized I hadn't taken a pic, so please ignore the poor quality. Ok...whats going on on this page...
First, the large scalloped circle was bought at a local scrap shop, pre-cut. In the scallops, I added various size flowers which are sparkly (Bling paper) which I cut with my Cuttlebug. The larger flowers have square silver brads in them. The 'pocket' is made from regular paper (matching the background) and is edged with a distressing inkpad. The brown flowers are from a 12 X 12 page that I bought at the same local scrap store, and they were all pre-cut. I cut off the corner that I wanted to use, but the rest of the page is to die for. The 'sisters' is also cut out of the Bling paper using an alphabet die set for the Cuttlebug. The little tag at the top says 'friendship' and you'll see a white thing that you don't know what it is, I'm sure. My sister is 12, and I'm a little bit older, so when she was little she drew me a picture of a dalmatian. Not wanting to cut the picture, I scanned it and printed it on sticker paper, and then cut it out. The other pink piece of paper has a saying which I actually found on Facebook, so I'm not sure where it originated, but I love it. It says " I pinky promise that when we're old ladies we;re gonna be best friends chasing each other in nursing homes with our motor scooters". Thought it was cute. I love ya, Abby.

A co-worker recently got a new job, and since it was his last week at work, I created this card for all our friends to sign for him. The brads were purchased at Michael's, and they are fabric. The black scalloped oval is a textured paper that looks leathery, and really adds class to a card. the Congrats was embossed in black powder. The background was a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and I inked the inside with a black inkpad to get the 3D affect, which I think really added a lot to it. The ribbon really set off the whole thing. Again, the scalloped ovals were cut/embossed using my Nestabilities (as seen in the card below). Love them!

A friend from work is having her baby shower this weekend, so I've created this card for her using one of mom's previous cards as inspiration. You can see moms in the 'older posts' of her website http://sandrasscraps.blogspot.com/. The stamp used is (I think) Studio G, purchased at Michael's in the cheap bin. The dress was stamped onto another sheet of paper and then cut to fit over the original stamp. The scalloped/embossed ovals are made with my new Nestabilities (Thanks Mom!) They were a birthday gift. It took a while to get the technique down pat, and get a good 'sandwich recipe', but I LOVE them, and can't wait to get more!! I also have Shapeabilities, which you will see in the future.

A friend had a sister in the hospital who was turning 10, and asked me to make a card for her. This is what I came up with. The sparkle paper is now all gone so I'm not sure the name on it, but it was something-bling I think. And I'm not sure where I got that happy birthday paper, although I'm thinking Michael's. The green flower was cut from that bling paper. The pink see-through flowers were from Queen and Co., in a package called Fab Flowers, Sonic Boom. They are awesome, and have gotten a lot of use. The brads look like little buttons. I think it turned out quite sweet. Unfortunately it ended up not going to the girls sister, as she moved on to a new job and we lost touch before the birthday. But it went to good use anyways!

This is the card as explained below, given to a supervisor at work who's grandmother passed away. I love the colour combination. The sentiment is not a stamp, but rather printed from the computer. The flower is three layers - found at a dollarstore in a bouquet! I love the colours of this card. And of course, the ribbon really brought it all together. This was kinda-sorta cased from a card made by my mom, as she has inspired a LOT of my creations. Not sure where she got her inspiration for this one, but I think it turned out beautifully...so thanks mom!

Although simple, I love how this card turned out. This was a get well/happy you're feeling better kind of card for my husbands great aunt. The papers were all given to me, so I'm not sure the names of them, but I just love the striped one. The flower accents and the little flower stamp (Sarah Beise) really pulled the whole thing together. It's a happy, cheerful card which was exactly what the occasion called for!

Although dark, this picture is of a sympathy card I made when a great Aunt passed away. The embossed white paper was bought in a set of two pages at a dollar store (the other page being black). You can't see it here, but this card has great detail. On the back black part, the flower from the middle is stamped in clear ink all over. Around the second layer of black (on top of the velum layer) the black has embossed words around it saying "thinking of you - To lift your Heart". Then on the outside edge of the second black layer, the edge is embossed in clear powder, which just gives a finished look. The Ribbon really finishes off the card. I had so much trouble making this card, it's probably one of the most difficult I've ever had to make. But I am happy with how it turned out.

The inside of this card has detail I really like. Although it's so hard to find a nice sentimate for a sympathy card, this one I think summed it up nicely. The ribbon was wrapped around the two seperate white parts to make it look like one. The flower was stamped, embossed in clear powder, and cut out, and them made into a belt-buckle style on the ribbon.

Another card I made recently, this one for a friends birthday. Her favorite colour is green, and the summery papers just seemed to match her personality. The picture has been cut into 1x2 inch rectangles and glued a little bit apart. Written around the picture is "good times between friends".

This is a card that I made recently for a co-worker who was moving away. Most all the stamps used were Studio G, purchased at Michaels. The paper was stamped by me with three seperate stamos; "friends", a single flower, and a heart. The circle of the flower is another stamp from Michael's created by Katie and Co. for Studio G. The circle stamp normally says "Spring Fling" in the middle, but I covered it, and used this "thinking of you" stamp with the flower as it was more applicable. Again, this is the hanging picture concept that you can see below on the wedding card. Around the outside of the circle I added liquid embossing, and a dot inside each scalloped edge. This was a fun card to make, as I played with the stamps and the inks more than my usual method.

I realize Easter is not here yet, and people recieving this card from me will probably see it here first (!) But I made it today after much frustration, and I really wanted to show it off. I had a hard time finding a nice Easter stamp, so I turned to my trusty internet and google'd an Easter basket. This particular one came from a great little website that I found, http://www.awesomeclipartforeducators.com/ They have great clipart for any occasion. I coloured this one with leads, and embossed the eggs with the sparkle embossing powder. I made four cards like this, and on some I embossed the entire basket with clear embossing powder for a shiny affect. I think I like them better without though. I also made them with a purple background. Although you can't really see it here, the light purple paper behind has silver bunnies stamped all over it, and the main page has hearts stamped on it in clear ink.

Think Pink!

My Uncle is getting married soon, so I wanted to make a special card for him and his bride-to-be. The problem is, I didn't know his wedding colours. So, I decided on pink! The shiny stuff on the left is Christmas flocking stuff that I bought at a season clearance at a drugstore! It glues on nicely with a 3D look and feel and a pink sheen. The Tux and Dress are stamps by Studio G that I got at Michael's in the cheap bin. The wedding dress is embossed with a sparkle embossing powder. The scalloped frame has an edge embossed with sparkle embossing powder, little holes in it around the edge for extra detail, and it's all filled in with liquid embossing powder. I like the look of the hanging picture. This idea came from Judy Wantanabe when she did a card a few weeks ago on www.tvweekly.com. The papers are both textured, and the cream coloured paper is shiny. I think it adds a rich looking touch.

This is a close up of the frame on the card. Unfortunately you can see where the liquid emboss has cracked in one spot, but it's not as noticable from a distance. The Edges of the frame are embossed in the sparkle powder to match the wedding dress.

This is the front of the envelope (shown below). The front of the envelope is stamped with the two flower stamps (used also in the below pic) and embossed with the sparkle embossing powder. The names of Bride and Groom are embossed in silver on the front, and the pink ribbons add a nice touch.

This is the envelope I've created for the wedding card. The mechanism used to close it, was cased from a Michael Strong webisode on www.tvweekly.com. Michael uses his Cloisonne heart stamp, but since I don't own it, I got the heart template on the internet, and stamped the inside with two different flower stamps that I bought at a dollarstore. On two hearts I stamped in pink, and on the other two I stamped in clear ink. One is a middlesized single flower, and one is of four smaller flowers. I then embossed the flowers with a sparkle embossing powder.

I've been wanting to create a blog to showcase my work for some time now. I guess a little bit of me was waiting until I felt that my talent was developed enough to show off. I'm still not sure I've reached that point sometimes, (and certainly don't think my work is perfect by any means!), but I've been inspired my other blogs I've seen and I'm itching to get mine out there too! I've been card making for 2-3 years now, since my mom gave me my first few tools for my birthday (which I thought at the time I would never get into although I appreciated it!), and quite recently picked up the art of scrapbooking, which I could never quite get a handle on before. I must say, scrapbooking, although it was harder to get into, came much more naturally to me once I really got into it, and I can whip up a two page spread faster than I can a 6x6 card most of the time! So here is some of my work. I'm going to add a few of my older cards on here (my camera wasn't great), but mostly I'll be adding my new work, as lately I've learned a lot more techniques and I've been using them more frequently. If you see something here that looks like something you have created yourself, please do not think that I stole your idea without giving credit. I'll try my best to give credit where credit is due, but a lot of my work is old, and I have pics saved on my computer that have inspired me throughout the years. If you have not been recognized, please take it as a compliment that you inspired me!
